FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- After spliting the first two sets (25-19, 26-28) on Tuesday evening at Joe Retton Arena, Fairmont State rolled in sets three (25-20) and four (25-14) to top Alderson Broaddus, 3-1, in non-conference action.
Kaitlyn Witsaman led Fairmont State (9-5) with 13 kills in the victory.
Courtney Kress added 10 kills and
Mackenzie Harrison returned to the lineup and chipped in seven kills for the Falcons.
Megan Clerico had a team-high 25 digs for FSU while
Courtney Kress notched 17 digs for the FSU defense. Setter
Jessica Furda guided the Fairmont State offense with 44 assists and a team-best four service aces.
Megan Christmann drove home a match-high 12 kills as the only ABU player to reach double figures. Lauren Hogan led the Battlers with 23 digs and Abby Gourley and Lauren Rogers each passed out 16 assists. ABU held a 9-6 advantage in blocks.
The Falcons will return to Mountain East Conference play on Friday evening when they travel to Urbana for a 7 p.m. road match.
