WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Fairmont State volleyball team opened the 2015 regular season with a 3-0 victory (25-14, 25-14, 25-13) over Tuskegee on Friday evening at Whitaker Gym in Winston-Salem.
The Falcons were led by
Courtney Kress and
Breanna Blot with nine kills apiece in the victory. Seniors
Kaitlyn Witsaman and
Erin Harwood each chipped in seven kills for the Falcons. Harwood also had a team high six digs and setter
Jessica Furda guided the FSU offensive attack by passing out 31 assists.
Fairmont State had a .402 attacking percentage compared to just .017 for Tuskegee. FSU also held a 10-1 advantage in aces.
TU was led by Pamela Allen with four kills and six digs. Morgan Scrivens reached double figure assists with 10 while Zahria Radford tallied 12 digs.
FSU will wrap up play at the Spike Out Hunger Challenge on Saturday with a pair of matches against Winston-Salem State (11 a.m.) and Chowan (2 p.m.).
