BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Third-ranked Fairmont State scored 10 of the first 12 points in the overtime period to hold-off a late rally by West Virginia Wesleyan and defeated the Bobcats, 82-76, on Monday night at the Rockefeller Center.

With the win, the Falcons have now won 11 games in a row and are 17-1 overall and 11-1 in the Mountain East. Wesleyan slips to 11-7 overall and 6-6 in the league.

The Bobcats, who trailed by as many as 14 in the second half, got a three from Mo Berchie and then a steal and a layup from Berchie in the final minute to force the extra period.

In overtime,
Thomas Wimbush scored the first five points, including a three from the top of the key to start the scoring in overtime. Wimbush then recorded a steal on the ensuing Wesleyan possession and went 2-of-2 from the free throw line, putting the Falcons up by five (71-66).

After a layup by Berchie with 3:20 remaining to cut the FSU advantage back to three, the Falcons scored nine-straight points to close out their second-straight overtime victory. The stretch was keyed by a clutch three from
Jamel Morris and a 6-for-6 performance from the free throw line.

Thomas Wimbush finished with a career-high 30 points after going 11-of-19 from the field to lead Fairmont State in the victory.
Matt Bingaya finished with 18 points and a team-high six rebounds and
Jamel Morris dropped in 13 for the Falcons.

Fairmont State shot over 50 percent from the field on the evening (28-of-53), including an 11-of-20 performance in the second half. FSU also converted on 20-of-22 free throw attempts and held a 44-24 scoring advantage in the paint.

Wesleyan also shot 50 percent from the field, including 61.5 percent (16-of-26) in the second half to erase a double-digit FSU advantage. The Bobcats also shot 50 percent (7-of-14) from three but made just 9-of-14 foul shots.

Berchie finished with 22 points and seven rebounds, going 10-of-15 from the field. Fred Brondsted had 13 points and a team-high five assists and Tanner McGrew finished well below his season average in both points (13) and rebounds (8) before fouling out.

FSU will now prepare for a road showdown with Concord on Thursday night in Athens. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
