Harrison's Career-High Leads FSU Past Seton Hill

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Mackenzie Harrison recorded a career-high 27 kills in a five-set victory over Seton Hill (25-19, 25-13, 16-25, 23-15, 15-9) on Tuesday evening at Joe Retton Arena to wrap up non-conference action for the Fairmont State volleyball team.

Harrison re-set her previous career-high that she recorded earlier this season against the Griffins during another five-set win over Seton Hill at the Wheeling Jesuit Crossover event.

In addition to her career-high hitting performance, Harrison also added 16 digs, three total blocks and finished the evening with a .227 attacking percentage.

Kayla Smith and Rebecca Feeney also reached double figures for the Falcons with 12 and 11 kills, repectively. The Falcons also had a big night around the net with 12 total blocks. Breanna Blot (7), Smith (6) and Feeeney (4) each had strong nights around the net.

Setter Jessica Furda was all over the court for the Falcons, recording 52 assists and a career-high 32 digs in the victory. Megan Clerico (22) and Julia Shemaitis (14) also reached double-figure digs in the match.

The Falcons used a strong hitting percentage in the second set by recording just two errors, allowing the Falcons to jump out to an early 2-0 lead. After a Seton Hill rally in the set three and four to even the score, the Falcons recorded 10 kills compared to just three errors in the fifth set to open up a 9-2 advantage. FSU wrapped up the victory with a 15-9 win in set five.

Seton Hill got 10 kills apiece from Katie Wenson and Jenna Sassack in the five-set defeat.

FSU will now hit the road for three-straight, starting with a 6 p.m. match at Notre Dame College on Friday evening.
