Shepherd Closes Out FSU, 2-0

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Shepherd held Fairmont State without a goal on a rainy and windy night at Duvall-Rosier Field on Friday evening, to pick up a 2-0 Mountain East Conference victory on the road.

The Rams (5-5-1, 4-5-1 MEC), who outshot the Falcons 20-8 in the victory, got on the board in the 23rd minute when Elishia Davis found the back of the net with an assist from Rachel Sefton. The score remained the same until the 81st minute when Lauren Drever scored on a deflection after a Shepherd shot attempt was blocked by a Fairmont defender.

Despite the 20-8 Shepherd advantage in shots, both teams had six shots on goal on the evening. FSU (2-9-1, 0-9-1 MEC) tallied a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Erica Uselton led the FSU attack with two shots on goal that were saved by the SU goaltender. Courtney Webb, Breana Wright, Colleen Newsome and Abigail Pasierb also recorded shots on goal for the Falcons.

The teams also combined for three yellow cards in the game.

The Falcons will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host Wheeling Jesuit at Duvall-Rosier Field. Opening kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
