FSU Drops 134 In Offensive Explosion Against D&E

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Matt Bingaya scored a career-high 34 points and Fairmont State finished one-point shy of a single-game scoring record, breezing past Davis & Elkins, 134-110, on Thursday evening at Joe Retton Arena.

With the win, the 4th-ranked Falcons improve to 8-0 on the season. D&E slips to 3-7 on the year.

Very little defense was played on Thursday evening, as D&E also went over the century mark and became just the third team to score over 100 points on a Jerrod Calhoun coached Fairmont State team. The previous two times were against West Liberty during the 2012-13 season, which was Calhoun's first season on the FSU bench.

Fairmont State shot over 62 percent from the field (47-of-75) and 54 percent from behind the arc (20-of-37) in the victory. The Falcons also recorded 31 assists on 47 made baskets and went 20-of-28 from the free throw line (.714).

Bingaya was well on his way to a triple-double in the victory, recording 34 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Bingaya shot 14-of-15 from the field and 6-of-9 from the charity stripe. The Falcons also got 23 points and five assists from Vonte Montgomery, 20 points and eight assists from Jason Jolly and 20 points from DJ Stockman. Thomas Wimbush also added a double-double for FSU with 17 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Shammgod Wells came off the bench to chip in seven assists for the Falcons.

The Senators also shot over 50 percent from the field, despite being outshot by 11 percent. D&E went 35-of-68 from the field (51.5) and also added 35 points at the charity stripe, knocking-down 35-of-43 free throw attempts (81.4).

The teams combined for 51 personal fouls, two technical fouls and 71 free throws were taken on the evening.

Kevin Bracy-Davis scored a team-high 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Senators in the loss. D&E also got 23 points from Kevin Simpson.

The Falcons will now be idle for nine days prior to hosting Winston-Salem State on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 4 p.m.
