URBANA, Ohio -- No. 8 Fairmont State shot over 72 percent from the field and scored 62 first-half points to bury Urbana, 110-90, on Thursday evening at the Grimes Center.

The win is Fairmont's 20
th of the season as the Falcons improve to 20-3 overall and 14-3 in the Mountain East Conference. Urbana falls to 1-21 overall and 0-17 in the league.

Jamel Morris led the FSU charge in the opening half with 14 points, draining 3-of-4 from behind the arc.
Shammgod Wells and
Thomas Wimbush also added a pair of three in the first half as FSU hit on 8-of-13 attempts from behind the arc. From the field, the Falcons made 24 of their 33 first-half field goal attempts and outrebounded the Blue Knights, 16-10.

Urbana was limited to half as many field goals in the opening half, going 12-of-22 from the field (54.5%).

The Falcons finished the game shooting 61.7 percent from the field (37-of-60) and 50 percent from three (12-of-24). FSU also recorded 20 assists compared to just nine turnovers in the win.

Matt Bingaya led four Falcons in double figures with 20 points on 7-of-8 from the field. Morris finished the game with 18 points and FSU also got 11 from Wimbush and 10 from
Vonte Montgomery.
Chase Connor,
Jason Jolly and Wells chipped in nine points apiece. Wells finished the game with a team-high five assists.

The teams combined for 55 personal fouls, three technical fouls and 79 free-throw attempts on the evening. Urbana finished the game shooting 30-of-40 (75.0) from the free throw line compared to 24-of-39 (61.5%) for the Falcons.

After Fairmont State opened up a 62-37 halftime lead, Urbana chipped the lead down to just eight early in the second half before the Falcons regained control and put the Blue Knights away.

Urbana was led by Carlas Jackson with 20 points, as he went 10-of-10 from the free throw line. Mike Newton and Austin Adams also chipped in 16 points apiece for the Blue Knights.

FSU will now travel to South Euclid for a 3 p.m. tip against Notre Dame College on Saturday afternoon.
