FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State dominated the paint and the glass and got three 20-point scoring performance to rally for a 77-74 victory over Glenville State on Thursday night at Joe Retton Arena.

With the win, the Falcons have clinched the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Mountain East Conference Tournament and are now 17-10 overall and 11-10 in the league. Glenville falls to 17-10 overall and 13-8 in the league and will be the fourth-seed in next week's tournament.

The Falcons trailed by as many as nine points at the 5:32 mark of the third quarter before eight-straight points by the Falcons cut the Glenville State lead to just two with just under four minutes to play. The teams traded baskets late in the third before a three by
Emily Puskarich at the 1:10 mark tied the game for the first time in the second half.

In the opening three minutes of the fourth quarter, the teams were tied three times before six-straight points, including two baskets by
Deidra Combs, gave the Falcons the lead for good with 4:26 remaining.

Glenville State would not go away late in the game, extending the closing seconds and getting within one point with just four seconds remaining after a three by Aanise Barnes. Puskarich pushed the FSU lead back to three from the free throw line with 1.7 seconds remaining and
Gabrielle Etter forced a steal to end the game, giving FSU the 77-74 victory. Puskarich scored all six FSU points in the final minute of the game, including a 4-of-4 performance from the charity stripe.

Fairmont State shot 50 percent from the field in the second half and held a 46-18 advantage scoring in the paint and a 55-32 rebounding mark. FSU also went 10-of-10 from the free throw line, nine of which came off the hands of Puskarich.

Glenville State drained 16 three-pointers and forced FSU into 27 turnovers in the loss. GSC was held to just 35 percent from the field, including 16-of-44 (36.4%) from three.

Fairmont State got 23 points and a career-high 12 rebounds and six steals from
Emily Puskarich in the victory.
Deidra Combs also added 23 points to go with seven rebounds, four assists, four blocks and a steal.
Katie Nunan, who was honored following the game on senior night, recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 boards.
Gabrielle Etter also tied her career-high by passing out eight assists.

GSC got 18 points from Barnes and 10 from Paris McLeod in the loss.
FSU will wrap up the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Shepherdstown to take on the Rams at 2 p.m.
