BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State and Wheeling Jesuit battled to a split of games three and four of the Mountain East Conference series on Tuesday afternoon/evening at Bridgeport Recreation Complex.
In game one of the day, senior ace Logan Johnson (4-2) pitched a complete game shut-out, striking out four batters and allowing just five hits in the seven-inning game.
At the plate, Alex Levitan put the Falcons on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first when he singled to left field to bring home Adam Meeker for the opening run of the game.
The score remained the same until the fourth inning when Fraser Brown doubled to right center to being home Levitan for the second FSU run of the day. The scoring wrapped up in the bottom of the fifth when Adam Meeker hit an RBI double to right field and Austin Norman singled to deep right field to bring Meeker across home plate.
The Falcons struggled in game two, allowing the Cardinals to open up a 6-0 lead in the middle of the third inning. The Cardinals were aided by four FSU errors in their 8-2 game two victory, including five unearned run that crossed the plate.
The Falcons finally got on the board in the bottom of the third when Meeker doubled off the right field fence to allow Josh Wine to score.
Wine struck again in the seventh by hitting a single to right center to bring home an unearned run for the Falcons, making the final score 8-2.
The Falcons will return to the Bridgeport Recreation Complex on Wednesday evening for a non-conference game against Ohio Valley starting at 6 p.m.
