BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Charleston scored five runs in the top of the fifth to defeat Fairmont State, 11-6, on Wednesday evening at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex.
Alex Levitan hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning to tie the game at 3-3 after UC scored three in the top of the first. Adam Meeker tripled and Austin Norman was walked to put two base runners on the corners prior to Levitan's at-bat.
After Charleston's five-run fifth inning, Levitan and Jacob Whitmore drove in two more runs for the Falcons to make the score 8-5 with four innings remaining.
However, UC scored three more runs in the seventh and allowed just one more FSU run on a wild pitch in the eighth to give the Golden Eagles an 11-6 win.
The Falcons will travel to Wheeling Jesuit over the weekend for a four-game series with the Cardinals. The series will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
