Falcons, Cards Battle To Draw

Webb scores both FSU goals

WHEELING, W.Va. -- Fairmont State and Wheeling Jesuit battled to a draw on Sunday afternoon in Mountain East Conference soccer action at Bishop Schmitt Field.
 
Courtney Webb scored two second-half goals to help FSU tie the game and record the draw. Webb's first goal of the day was assisted by Breana Wright in the 56th minute and helped the Falcons tie the game at a goal apiece after WJU took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
 
Wheeling's Kristen Garland put Wheeling back in front in the 79th minute on a rebound that she put into the left side of the FSU net. Just under five minutes later, Webb scored her second goal of the day in the 84th minute. Webb's second goal was unassisted from 25-yards out.
 
The game continued for two overtime periods, totaling 110 minutes before it ended in a draw. WJU held a 22-10 advantage in shots, including a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal.
 
Fairmont State goalkeeper Shawna Graham recorded eight saves on her 22 shots faced. WJU also held a 6-4 margin in corner kicks.
 
FSU will now be idle until Thursday when they travel to Shepherd for a noon kickoff with the Rams.
