SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd's Samantha Leonard scored on a penalty kick in the 89
th minute to down Fairmont State, 1-0, on Thursday afternoon at the Shepherd University Soccer Complex.

With the loss, FSU falls to 2-3-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Mountain East Conference. SU improves to 3-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the league.

The Falcons had three shots on goal turned away by the Shepherd goaltender in the final 10 minutes of the second half. In the 80
th minute,
Maci Dungan had a shot on target that was saved by SU goalkeeper Christi LaBella. Dungan also had a shot in the 87
th minute that was also turned away.

Following Leonard's successful penalty kick at the 89-minute mark,
Courtney Webb got one final shot off for the Falcons but it was once again saved by LaBella.

The Falcons outshot Shepherd, 13-10, with each team recording six shots on goal. Dungan, Webb and
Katie Doyle led the FSU offense with three shots apiece. Each of Webb's shots were on goal.
