The Matchup
- Fairmont State will step out of conference play to face Alderson Broaddus for the first time since the 1929 season. This is the 19th meeting between the two programs with ABU holding an 8-7-3 series record against the Falcons.
- This will be just the second non-conference game in head coach Jason Woodman's four-year tenure at Fairmont State. In his first game as head coach, Woodman and the Falcons defeated Seton Hill, 37-29, to open the 2013 season.

- With last Thursday's come-from-behind victory over West Liberty, the Falcons have started a season 3-0 for the first time since the 1981 season. The Falcons scored late in the fourth quarter for the second-straight season to defeat West Liberty.
- The Falcons have won nine of their last 11 games dating back to last season.
- The Falcons have used a pair of second-half comebacks to begin the season with a 3-0 mark. FSU trailed 20-10 at the half in week one against West Virginia State and trailed 17-7 last Thursdayduring the half at West Liberty.
Scouting the Offense
- Fairmont State senior wide receiver Fabian Guerra was named MEC Offensive Player of the Week following his three-touchdown performance against Concord in week two. He followed up his week two performance with eight catches for 112 yards at West Liberty last Thursday, hauling in a first half touchdown from Cooper Hibbs.
- Guerra currently ranks third in school history in career catches (179), ranks fourth in FSU history in receiving yards (2,276) and is tied for seventh in career touchdown receptions (17).
- Guerra needs just 14 receptions to move past Todd Anderson for second in school history. The senior is also just 45 yards from moving in third in school history in receiving yards, passing Jason Trent.
- After three weeks Guerra is tied for second in the MEC in receiving yards per game (106.7) and is second in receptions per game (7.33).
- Fairmont State has three receivers with at least 19 receptions and 212 yards through the first three weeks of the 2016 season. Laurence King is second on the team with 21 receptions for 212 yards and Andre Hall has hauled in 19 receptions for 244 yards.
- Fairmont State has also had success running the football this season as starting running back Terrell Charles has recorded two 100-yard performances and has 303 yards on 63 carries this season. Charles also has two multiple touchdown performances this season (week 1 and week 3).
- Charles is the first FSU running back to post back-to-back 100-yard rushing performances since Daniel Monroe did it in 2012.
- Three weeks into the 2016 season, Charles is currently second in the league in rushing this season, averaging 101.0 yards per game. Charles is also tied for the league lead with Wesleyan's Michael Anderson in rushing touchdowns (4).
- Guerra (2nd), King (T-3rd) and Hall (T-6th) are each ranked in the top 10 in the MEC in receptions per game. The trio is also ranked in the top 10 in the league in receciving yards per game
- Quarterback Cooper Hibbs is off to a solid start to the 2016 season, completing over 70 percent of his passes (78-of-111) with 898 yards and five touchdown passes. Hibbs has also thrown four interceptions, including three a week ago at WLU.
- This season Hibbs leads the MEC in passing yards per game (299.3) and completion percentage (70.3). Hibbs is currently third in the MEC in passing efficiency (145.9).
- Hibbs ranks third in school history in nearly every passing category, including yards (6,707), touchdowns (51), completions (550) and total offense (6,667).
Scouting the Defense
- Defensively Fairmont is third in total defense (319.3 yards allowed per game), first in scoring defense (13.3) and first in rushing defense (79.7) in the MEC.
- The Falcons have eight players with double digit tackles this season led by junior linebacker Marcus Porter, who has 24. Senior safety Manny Ivey has 20 tackles and is followed by sophomore outside linebacker Jerry Iweh (18), junior defensive end Quincy Redmon (17), sophomore free safety Stephen Turner (16), senior cornerback Jacob Jean-Charles (14), senior defensive end Marco Jones (10) and junior linebacker Zack Hoover (10).
-Â Fairmont State ranks 15th in the country and first in the MEC in rushing yards allowed per game by giving up only 79.7 yards per game. FSU has not allowed a team to rush for 100 yards this season.
-Â Fairmont State's four fumble recoveries this season ranks 13th in country.
-Â FSU leads the MEC in scoring defense by giving up just 13.3 points per game.
-Â The Falcons lead the MEC in sacks with 11.
-Â FSU also leads the MEC in red-zone defense by only allowing opponents to score 62.5 percent of the time.
-Â Fairmont's six sacks against West Liberty in week three were the most in a single game since they recorded six against UVa-Wise back on Nov. 15, 2014.
-Â Quincy Redmon has recorded a sack in five of the last six games, dating back to last season.Â
-Â Redmon is currently seventh in the country and first in the MEC with 5.5 sacks this season. Redmon recorded three sacks last Thursday against West Liberty.
-Â Redmon's two fumble recoveries on the season also rank third in the country.
-Â Marcus Porter's 14 tackles and Redmon's nine tackles against West Liberty were both individual career highs.
- Porter is currently tied for eighth in the Mountain East Conference with a team-high 24 tackles this season.
- Emanuel Ivey currently leads the team and is tied for third in the MEC with five pass break-ups this season.
Scouting the Battlers
- Alderson Broaddus comes into Thursday night's non-conference matchup with an overall record of 2-1.Â
- The Battlers are coming off of a 42-12 victory over the University of Faith, however the victory does not count in the NCAA standings or statistics.
- Earlier this season ABU claimed a 14-7 road victory over Division I (FCS) opponent Robert Morris.
- The Battlers have started two different quarterbacks this season. Dakota Bruggeman started the opening game of the season against RMU and went 12-of-24 for 129 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
- Connor McWilliams started the second game of the season against St. Joseph's College and went 15-of-27 for 184 yards and an interception.
- Brandon Jones leads the ground attack with 56 carries for 208 yards and a score.
- Zack Lake leads the ABU air attack with six receptions for 107 yards. Edwin Velasquez and Brandon Jones have each hauled in a touchdown reception this season.
- The defense is anchored by Michael James with a team-high 15 total tackles, including three tackles for a loss, and an interception.
- Brandon Lavern leads the Battler pass rush with three sacks.
