FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State wrapped up its first season under head coach
Brandon Heembrock with a 3-0 shutout of Salem International University on Saturday afternoon at East-West Stadium in Fairmont.

Fairmont State was led in the victory by
Gabriella Mascaro with a goal and an assist in her final collegiate game as a member of the FSU women's soccer team. Mascaro's goal came in the 61
st minute on a penalty kick to push Fairmont's lead to 2-0. Mascaro also recorded an assist on Fairmont's third goal of the game - a score by
Kellie Norris in the 66
th minute of action.

Louise Welch got the scoring started for the Falcons in the 31
st minute on an unassisted goal that allowed FSU to grab a 1-0 halftime lead.

FSU held a 13-10 advantage in shots, including a 10-7 edge in shot on goal.

Both Fairmont State goalkeepers recorded three saves in the shutout (
Shawna Graham,
Lillian Gibbons).

Fairmont State finished the year with a 5-7-6 overall record, setting a program-high for wins in a season. FSU women's soccer started competing at the Division II level in 2015.
