WHEELING, W.Va. -- After splitting the first two sets of a Mountain East Conference showdown of the top two teams in the league, Wheeling Jesuit closed out Fairmont State for a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon (25-18, 22-25, 25-15, 25-17).

With the victory, WJU improves to 22-4 overall, including an unbeaten 12-0 mark in league play. FSU slips to 17-8 overall and 8-3 in the MEC.

The Falcons were led by
Mackenzie Harrison with a team-high 18 kills, 21 digs and six total blocks in the match.
Alyssa Kelly also chipped in double-digit kills with 11.
Taylor Wisniewski chipped in six blocks in the middle of the FSU offense.

As a team, FSU held a 10-7 advantage in team blocks.

Megan Clerico, who missed three sets of Friday's match at West Liberty, returned to the lineup and tallied 18 digs defensively for the Falcons.
Sydney McCoy also reached double-digit digs with 11.
Alexa Gore paced the Falcon offense with 41 assists.

Cassie Meyer led Wheeling Jesuit's high-powered offense with 19 kills and a pair of aces. Stephanie Sylvester tallied a match-high 61 assists and Makenna Babb recorded a team-high 26 digs for the Cardinals.

WJU held a 70-47 advantage on kills and recorded a .310 attacking percentage on the afternoon.

FSU will return home to host Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday evening at Joe Retton Arena. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m.
