FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State picked up a 3-1 victory over Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday evening to wrap up the non-conference portion of Fairmont's 2017 schedule. In the victory, senior right-side hitter
Mackenzie Harrison moved into second place in FSU volleyball history with 1,833 career kills – passing Courtney Fochtman to move into second place (1,827).
Harrison now needs just 98 more kills to pass Natasha Ross to become the all-time school leader in kills at Fairmont State. Harrison finished Tuesday's match with 19 kills and 17 digs – moving her kills total this season to 575. Ross also holds the single-season record for kills in FSU history with 621 back in 1999.
Fairmont State (18-8) held a 52-34 advantage in kills and a 6-2 edge in aces during Tuesday's victory over the Battlers. FSU also limited ABU to a .079 attacking percentage on the evening.
Emma Mobley chipped in 13 kills and 12 digs to also add a double-double for the Falcons. Senior
Alyssa Kelly also reached double figures by driving home 10 kills.
Megan Clerico led the Falcons defensively with 27 digs and
Alexa Gore passed out a match-high 42 assists.
Madison Johnson paced ABU (7-20) with seven kills in four sets of action on Tuesday evening. Alderson Broaddus recorded just 34 kills and was aided by eight FSU errors during its set two win.
Fairmont State will remain at home on Friday evening with a 7 p.m. match against Notre Dame College inside Joe Retton Arena.
