Complete Game Notes - Fairmont State | Concord

The Matchup

- Fairmont State will make its final road trip of the season Saturday when it visits Athens for a noon Mountain East Conference game with Concord University.
- Fairmont State enters Saturday's game with a 6-3 overall record after completing its largest comeback of the season in last Saturday's victory over West Virginia State. In a game played in a steady rain with temperatures in the mid-40s FSU overcame a 24-7 halftime deficit thanks to 27 straight points in a span of just 20:54 en route to a 34-27 victory.
- The win secured the team's third consecutive winning season – something which hasn't been accomplished at FSU since 1999-2001. It also keeps Fairmont's chances alive to record the school's first back-to-back regular seasons of eight or more wins since 1964 and 1965.
- FSU scored 24 points in the third quarter of its game with West Virginia State last Saturday to take a 31-24 lead it never relinquished. The 24 points are the most scored in a single quarter by the Falcons since they scored 24 in the first quarter of a 31-27 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan on Oct. 8, 2015.
- The Mountain Lions are 2-7 overall, 1-7 in the MEC and coming off a 44-14 loss on the road against West Liberty Saturday.
- FSU leads the all-time series between the schools, 44-35-2. The Falcons have not won in Athens since 2008.

Scouting The Offense

- When Charles wasn't doing damage on the ground in the final 30 minutes for FSU sophomore Rakeem Darden was. He finished with 98 yards and a pair of second-half touchdowns on just 12 carries. Darden got 97 of his career-high 98 yards in the second half on 11 attempts.

- The FSU offense is outscoring opponents in every quarter this season, except the second. In the second quarter of games, FSU is being outscored by an 88-45 margin.
- Takwan Crews-Naylor will make his third career start at quarterback on Saturday, after turning in a pair of quality starts in place of senior JuJuan Young-Battle who is out due to injury. Crews-Naylor has completed 29-of-55 pass attempts for 365 yards.
- Jeff Iweh (20-369) and Shawn Harris (22-300) are leading the FSU passing game this season, after Andre Hall went down with a season-ending injury against Shepherd.
