FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State outscored California (PA) 19-8 in the final 3:56 of Saturday's non-conference showdown to give the Falcons a 102-93 victory over the Vulcans inside Joe Retton Arena.
D'Ondre Stockman scored a career-high 28 points in the victory, draining eight of Fairmont State's 16 three-pointers in the victory.

With the win, Fairmont State improves to 7-3 on the year. Cal slips to an even 5-5 on the year with the loss.

Both teams shot 50 percent from the field in the game, including 56.7 percent (34-of-60) by Cal in the loss. The Vulcans also went 8-of-17 from behind the arc (47.1%) and outscored the Falcons by eight in the paint (46-38). Cal led 85-83 at the 3:56 mark of the second half before Fairmont State finished with a 19-8 scoring advantage.

Fairmont State shot 50 percent from the field, including 43 percent from behind the arc with 16 made three-pointers. FSU also scored 19 second chance points off 14 offensive rebounds and dropped in 17 points as a result of 14 California (PA) turnovers. The Falcons held a 35-30 advantage on the glass.

In addition to Stockman's career performance, the Falcons also got 24 points and five rebounds from
Vonte Montgomery and 15 points, three rebounds and five assists from
Jason Jolly. FSU also got 12 points apiece from
Caleb Davis and
R.J. Hutcherson. Davis just missed a double-double by also pulling down nine boards.

The Fairmont State bench outscored Cal by a 46-2 margin.

Cal had three players with 20-or-more points in the loss, led by Cordell Smith with 33 points on a 12-of-14 performance from the field. Jahmere Howze (22), Terry Davis Jr. (21) and Isaiah Lewis (13) also reached double-figures for the Vulcans.

The game featured 11 lead changes and seven ties, despite Fairmont State leading for 26:09.

The Falcons will now travel to Indiana (PA) for a second-consecutive MEC/PSAC matchup on Tuesday evening. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
