ATLANTA, Ga. – The Fairmont State baseball team picked up its first win of the season on Friday afternoon in a 6-5 victory over Selma (Ala.) to kick off a four-game southern trip for the Falcons this weekend.
Michael Stout (1-1) led the Falcons on the hill, striking out a career-high 14 batters and allowing just four earned runs on seven hits. The win was Stout's first in a Falcon uniform.
The Falcons were led at the plate by
Jacob Whitmore and
Tyler Hill, both going 2-for-3 on the afternoon. Whitemore scored two runs for the Falcons and Hill drove in one. In addition,
Austin Norman went 1-fo-3 with a double and
Johnny Kesling finished the day going 1-of-3 with a pair of runs batted-in.
The Falcons will return to action on Saturday afternoon with a double header against Salem International. The first pitch of game one will be at 12 noon in Atlanta.
