FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State and Alderson Broaddus saved the best for last on Friday evening as the teams went down to the wire in the season finale for both teams.

In the end, Alderson Broaddus picked up the win by scoring a 100.44 in the team routine to erase a one-point Fairmont State lead following the tumbling event. Both teams scored season-high meet totals and team routine scores during the meet as the Battlers escaped with a 279.740-278.350 victory.

Fairmont State will now wait to see if Friday's score was high enough to qualify for the 2017 NCATA National Championships in Azusa, Calif. from April 27-29. The final seeding will be announced next week following the final meets of the 2017 NCATA regular season.

Fairmont State took the compulsory (38.80-38.75) and pyramid (29.45-29.35) events by small margins and Alderson Broaddus took the three acro heats (29.75-29.60) to send the meet to halftime with a knotted score of 97.85-97.85.

After a lead change following each event in the opening half, Fairmont State built a 1-point advantage following wins in toss (28.50-28.05) and tumbling (53.950-53.400).

The Battlers rallied in the team routine despite trailing by one point and starting the final event with a 1.02 deficit in start value. ABU scored 100.44 in the routine to improve to 5-2 on the season. Fairmont finished the meet with a 98.05 out of a start value of 106.75 in the team event.

The Falcons scored a 9.75 or higher in nine of the first 11 heats, including a perfect score of 9.80 (out of 9.80) in the Inversion Pyramid (
