CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Sam Keil's 32-yard field goal with 1.9 second remaining lifted Fairmont State to a 19-16 come-from-behind victory over the University of Charleston during Thursday's Mountain East Conference Game of the Week at UC Stadium. The Falcons trailed 16-3 entering the fourth quarter of the game before scoring 16 unanswered points in the fourth.

With the win, FSU improves to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the league. UC falls to 1-3 both overall and in the MEC.

Trailing 16-3 at the beginning of the fourth quarter,
Laurence King capped a seven-play, 75-yard Fairmont State possession with an eight-yard touchdown catch from
JuJuan Young-Battle just 1:36 seconds into the fourth.

Fairmont's defense was the next to provide a big play in the comeback, as
Stephen Turner tied the game with 5:38 remaining in the fourth following a 36-yard interception return for a touchdown.

The next two possessions ended in punts by both teams to give UC the ball back with 2:05 remaining.

On the first play of the drive,
Stephen Turner picked off his second pass of the day to set FSU up at its own 47-yard line.

Fairmont State drove down to the UC 15-yard line on a 10-play, 38-yard drive to set up the game-winning attempt by Keil. Following a pair of UC timeouts to ice the attempt, Keil's attempt bounced off the left goal post and went through the uprights to give FSU the win as time expired.

Young-Battle finished the evening going 20-of-44 for 279 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown pass. Young-Battle suffered his first interception of the year in the game, and faced extreme pressure for most of the night, suffering six sacks.

Laurence King led all FSU receivers with six catches for 93 yards and a score in the win.
Jeff Iweh also had another big day for the Falcons, pulling in four catches for 74 yards.

FSU ended the game with just nine yards rushing and a season-low 288 yards of total offense in the win.
Terrell Charles totaled a team-high 31 yards on 11 carries on the ground.

In addition to Turner's multiple interception day, the Falcons got a team-high 11 tackles each from
Marcus Porter and
Naiquan Thomas. In addition,
Quincy Redmon and
Jerry Iweh both chipped in eight tackles apiece.

Mason Olszewski finished the evening completing 9-of-16 pass attempts for 86 yards.

Kane Roush led the UC ground attack with 16 carries for 66 yards and a score.

Charleston finished the game with six total sacks, including three from Jalen Nelson. Nelson also tallied a team-high 10 stops for the UC defensive unit.

Fairmont State will now return home for Homecoming Weekend, next Saturday when UVa-Wise comes to town for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
