SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Fairmont State rolled to its fifth-consecutive victory with a 107-78 victory over Notre Dame College on Saturday afternoon in South Euclid.
Andrew Emrick finished one point shy of a career-high with 27 points and six rebounds to lead the Falcons.
With the victory, Fairmont State improves to 12-4 overall, including an 8-2 mark in league play. NDC slips to 4-12 overall (2-8 MEC).
Fairmont State shot 52.5 percent from the field (42-80) and drained 12 three-pointers in the runaway victory. Fairmont State also dominated the paint by a 56-30 advantage and scored 20 points off turnovers.
FSU forced 18 turnovers on the defensive end. Meanwhile, Fairmont State was very efficient on the offensive end, turning the ball over just five times while recording 18 assists.
Emrick finished the afternoon going 11-of-17 from the field, including 2-of-3 from behind the arc. Emrick also added three steals. Fairmont State also got 15 points and six rebounds from
Cole VonHandorf, as the freshman went 6-of-7 from the field.
R.J. Hutcherson (13) and
Caleb Davis (11) also reached double figures.
All 12 Fairmont State players scored in the victory.
On the defensive end, Fairmont State limited Notre Dame to just 41 percent from the field ad 35 percent from three. NDC also struggled from the free throw line, making only 14-of-22 attempts. Notre Dame held a 45-38 advantage on the glass.
KT Taylor paced the Notre Dame offense, totaling 19 points and eight boards on the afternoon. Drew Scarberry also chipped in 15 in the losing effort.
FSU will now return home to host Glenville State on Wednesday night. The MEC matchup is slated for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
