FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State shot nearly 56 percent from the field and
Andrew Emrick scored a career-high 28 points to lead Fairmont State to a 91-77 victory over Concord on Saturday evening at Joe Retton Arena. The Falcons also held the league's leading scorer, Tommy Bolte, to just 20 points – which is 14.6 points below his season average.
The win is Fairmont's 30
th in a row inside Joe Retton Arena, a streak that dates back to Feb 18, 2016. The Falcons also pushed their current win streak to three games and now have a 10-4 overall record, including a 6-2 mark in MEC play. Concord falls to 8-5 on the season (5-3 MEC).
As a team, the Falcons buried 55.9 percent of their shots (33-of-59), including 12 three-pointers. FSU also held a 38-31 advantage on the glass and outscored Concord 40-30 in the paint.
Emrick finished the evening going 12-of-13 from the field and also tallied six rebounds and an assist. Seventeen of Emrick's points came in the opening half.
D'Ondre Stockman also had a big day from behind the arc, going 6-of-9 from three and finishing with 20 points to go with five rebounds and three assists.
Caleb Davis and
Vonte Montgomery also chipped in 14 and 11 points, respectively. Davis pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
In addition to both players reaching double-figures on the offensive end, Davis and Montgomery also pressured Bolte on the defensive end of the floor for most of the afternoon. Despite scoring 20 points, Bolte went just 6-of-23 from the field and scored seven of his points from the free throw line. Bolte also added six rebounds, seven assists and four steals for the Mountain Lions.
Antonio Patterson (16), Malik Johnson (12) and Darian Peterson (10) also reached double-figures for Concord. Concord turned the ball over just five times.
FSU will now prepare for its Ohio road trip, beginning with a 7:30 p.m. tip on Thursday evening at Urbana.
