WISE, Va. -- Fairmont State recovered from a slow start to rally past UVa-Wise, 3-2, on Friday evening at the Prior Convocation Center on the campus of the University of Virginia's College at Wise.
 
UVa-Wise took a 2-0 lead in the match by winning the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-22. The Falcons stormed back to force a fifth set by winning sets three and four by scores of 25-19 and 25-19. In the closely contested fifth set, Fairmont State trailed 14-13 before recording the final three points of the set to earn its fourth-consecutive victory.
 
Fairmont State is now 8-12 overall and 3-5 in MEC play. The Cavs fall to 4-17 overall and 1-6 in the league.
 
Four players reached double-figures for the Falcons in the win, led by Emma Mobley with 15 kills and 11 digs. Rebecca Feeney and Julia DiPaola also chipped in 12 kills apiece to help pace the Falcons. Emily Suppel also reach double-figures with 10 kills.
 
Fairmont State, who held a 12-11 advantage in total blocks, got seven total blocks from Taylor Wisniewski, five from Mobley and four apiece from DiPaola and Feeney.
 
In addition to recording 12 kills, DiPaola also recorded a team-high 19 digs to notch a double-double. Kelsey Moeller and Lily Keber guided the Falcon offensive attack with 25 and 23 assists, respectively.
 
Matelyn Gibson paced the Cavs with 17 kills in the setback. 
 
Fairmont State will return to action on Saturday afternoon with a road match at Concord University. Opening serve is set for 1 p.m.
