FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Fairmont State saw its seven-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday evening, dropping a 3-0 final to 20th-ranked Wheeling Jesuit inside Joe Retton Arena.
Wheeling Jesuit (24-3, 11-0 MEC) swept the match by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-17.
Fairmont State (11-13, 5-6 MEC) got a team-high eight kills apiece from
Emma Mobley and
Michaela Levings in the setback.
Julia DiPaola also chipped in seven kills.
Mobley also tallied a team-high 12 digs, while
Megan Clerico chipped in 11 for the Fairmont State defense.
Kelsey Moeller recorded a team-high 15 assists in the match.
Wheeling Jesuit had two players reach double-figures, led by Cassie Myers with 17 kills and 10 digs. Makenna Babb also chipped in 13 kills and a team-high 13 digs.
The Cardinals recorded a .290 attacking percentage and also held a 10-6 advantage in blocks.
Fairmont State will return to action next Friday with a 7 p.m. match at Notre Dame College.
