Mobley Leads Fairmont State Past UC, 3-1

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- After dropping the opening set (27-25), Fairmont State took the next three sets (25-17, 25-17, 25-21) to knock off the University of Charleston in four sets on Friday evening at Joe Retton Arena.
 
The victory helps Fairmont State improve to 5-12 on the season, and is also the Falcons first conference win of the season. UC slipped to 9-11 overall and 5-1 in league play.
 
Emma Mobley took over the match for the Falcons, recording a team-high 18 kills, 16 digs and three block assists in the victory. Julia DiPaola also recorded a double-double in the victory with 13 kills and 16 digs. Libero Megan Clerico also recorded double-figure digs with 14.
 
The Falcons also recorded 12 total blocks around the net, led by seven total blocks from Rebecca Feeney. Taylor Wisniewski also totaled five block assists on the evening.
 
Lily Keber tallied a team-high 26 assists, while Kelsey Moeller added 17 to help guide the Fairmont State offensive attack.
 
Charleston had four players recorded eight kills in the setback, including Jour'Ney Powell, Tori Clark, Carly Granger and Rachel Phalen. UC also finished the match with 13 total blocks, including six apiece from Powell and Janeese Vervelde.
 
The Falcons will remain at home on Saturday afternoon when West Virginia State comes to town for a 1 p.m. opening serve.
