FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Rebecca Feeney helped lead Fairmont State to a 3-1 victory (25-8, 21-25, 25-15, 25-19) over Glenville State by recording 14 kills and 13 total blocks on Friday evening in Mountain East Conference action at Joe Retton Arena.
With the win, Fairmont State improves to 12-16 overall and 6-9 in MEC action. GSC falls to 6-17 overall and 2-13 in league play.
Fairmont State recorded 57 kills compared to 20 errors in the victory, with 11 of the errors coming in the second set that the Pioneers won by a 25-21 advantage. However, Fairmont State responded in the third set with just one error and a 25-15 victory in the set.
In addition to Feeney's standout performance,
Emily Suppel and
Julia DiPaola chipped in nine kills apiece. Senior
Sasha Sampson and freshman Bri Washburn also chipped in eight and seven kills, respectively for the Fairmont State attack.
The Falcons held a 16-6 advantage in blocks against the Pioneers, getting 13 total blocks from Feeney, four from Sampson, and three apiece from Suppel, Washburn and
Taylor Wisniewski.

Megan Clerico led the Falcons with 21 digs in the match, and Lily Keber paced the Fairmont State offense with 27 assists.
Glenville State got a team-high 12 kills and five total blocks from Jazaray Clark-Casto in the loss.
Fairmont State will remain at home to host West Virginia Wesleyan on senior day at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Clerico and Sampson will be honored prior to the match as the duo will play their final match inside Joe Retton Arena tomorrow afternoon.
