WHEELING, W.Va. -- Fairmont State controlled the paint as it cruised to a 95-80 win over Wheeling Jesuit on Wednesday night at the McDonough Center. The win is Fairmont State's seventh in a row.

The Falcons (7-2, 5-0 MEC) held a 58-36 advantage in the paint and out-rebounded Wheeling Jesuit by 15, including 17-8 on the offensive glass. Fairmont State also got 41 points from its bench on the night, compared to just four points from non-starters for the Cardinals.
 
Fairmont State shot 48.7 percent from the field (37-of-76) and also drained 11 3-pointers in the runaway victory. The Falcons passed out 25 assists on 37 made baskets, getting six assists from Jason Jolly and four from Cole VonHandorf.
 
WJU managed just 43.9 percent from the field and 32.0 percent from long range. The Cardinals were 14-of-19 from the free throw line.
 
R.J. Hutcherson netted 19 points and had seven rebounds to lead Fairmont State in the victory. Hutcherson drained a team-high four 3-pointers. Vonte Montgomery added 18 points and a team-high nine rebounds, and Vince Franklin finished just shy of a career-high with 17 points and eight rebounds. Franklin's career-high was his 18-point scoring performance against West Virginia Wesleyan last season.
 
VonHandorf also reached double-figures with 11 points.

Wheeling Jesuit (0-8, 0-5 MEC) was led by Steve Cannady's 19 points. Jay Gentry scored 18 and Franck Kamgain added 14. Tariq Woody had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinals.
 
The Falcons will now prepare for a matchup with No. 8 West Liberty on Sunday afternoon at Joe Retton Arena. Tip is set for 4 p.m. Both teams come into the game with identical 5-0 records in MEC play.
