FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Charleston limited Fairmont State to 40 percent from the field (26-of-65) and 24.2 percent from behind the arc (8-of-33); picking up a 78-65 victory over the Falcons on Thursday evening inside Joe Retton Arena. The win halts Fairmont State's 35-game home win streak that dateed back to Feb. 4, 2016.

On the season, Fairmont State slips to 18-7 overall and 14-5 in Mountain East Conference play following the setback. UC improves to 14-11 overall and 10-9 in league play.

In addition to Charleston performance on the defensive end of the floor, the Golden Eagles shot 49. 1 percent from the field (28-of-57) and held the lead for the final 35 minutes of the game.

Jason Jolly and
Vonte Montgomery paced the Falcons with 10 points apiece. FSU also got nine points apiece from
Andrew Emrick,
Caleb Davis and Kenzie Melko.
Vince Franklin came off the bench and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Charleston had five players reach double-figures, led by 17 from Austin Howard. UC also got 13 points and seven rebounds from Kier Anderson and 12 points apiece from Ke'Andre Gibson, Lamont McManus and Jordan Smith.

UC also held a 41-34 advantage on the glass and scored 15 points off turnovers. FSU recorded 18 second-chance points.

FSU will now prepare for a 4 p.m. tip on Saturday afternoon, as the Falcons will host West Virginia State on senior day.
