FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Fairmont State put on a dominating performance on Wednesday evening, taking down Glenville State by a 10-0 final at Duvall-Rosier Field.
Fairmont State, who spent most of the night in the offensive end of the field, finished the evening with 32 shots on goal and 10 corner kicks. Glenville State, however, managed just one shot on goal, which was saved by
Isabelle Vaccari in the first half. Vaccari recorded her fourth shutout of the season, including her third in a row.
Seven different Fairmont State players recorded goals in the victory, including two apiece from
Louise Welch,
Abigail Johnson and
Katie Doyle.
Kylee Altland,
Abigail Fowler,
Rachel Phillips and
Lacy Bryant also added a goal apiece for the Falcons. Bryant also added four assists, and Welch chipped in three assists in the victory.
The Falcons scored eight of their 10 goals in the first half and were able to sub nine players into the game during the second half of play.
Fairmont State (4-1-1) will return to action this Sunday with a 4 p.m. kickoff against Wheeling Jesuit. The Falcons will return home next Wednesday with a non-conference match against Salem University. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
