FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Rebecca Feeney recorded a team-high 11 kills and drove home four blocks in Fairmont State's 3-1 setback against Shepherd University on Tuesday evening (25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 25-20).
With the victory, Shepherd improved to 11-5 overall and 1-2 in Mountain East Conference matches. The Falcons fell to 4-10 overall and 0-3 in the league.
Shepherd recorded a .250 attacking percentage and held a 12-9 advantage in blocks during the victory.
Shepherd was led by Cambriea Hill and Peyton Lindblad with 19 and 18 kills, respectively, in the victory. Nicole Murray also had a strong performance around the net with eight total blocks (three solo). Becca Kern paced the SU offensive attack with 49 assists.
Julia DiPaola also reached double-figure kills for Fairmont State with 10 kills to go with 13 digs.
Yvonne Fullerton also chipped in nine kills, and
Taylor Wisniewski added eight kills and a team-high five block assists in the match.
Lily Keber (23) and
Kelsey Moeller (19) led the Falcons in assists on the evening. Senior libero
Megan Clerico made her first appearance of the season, finishing the match with 13 digs, five assists and three aces.
Fairmont State will remain at home for an MEC matchup against Urbana on Friday at 6 p.m. inside Joe Retton Arena.
