ATHENS, W.Va. -- Andrew Emrick's three from just over midcourt as time expired forced overtime, and Fairmont State outscored Concord 16-6 in overtime to come away with a critical 93-83 victory over the Mountain Lions on Saturday evening at the Carter Center.

With the victory, Fairmont State improves to 11-3 overall and 8-0 in Mountain East Conference play. Concord suffered its second-consecutive loss and slipped to 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the league following the setback.

Following a three by Jair Rodgers with just over a minute remaining in regulation to give the Mountain Lions a six-point (75-69) advantage,
Cole VonHandorf hit a three and
Andrew Emrick dropped in a layup on back to back possession to pull the Falcons within one with under five seconds to play.

Concord jumped back in front by three points with 2.8 seconds remaining after a pair of free throws by Tommy Bolte to force Fairmont State into a desperation three to force overtime.

Emrick gathered the inbounds pass for Fairmont State and took two dribbles over midcourt before burying the long attempt as time expired, sending the game to overtime with a 77-77 deadlock.

In overtime, Fairmont State hit three of its first four shots to push its lead to 85-77 with just 2:25 remaining. From that point, the Falcons answered every Concord basket and didn't allow the home team to get closer then a six-point deficit.

Fairmont State went 6-of-7 from the field in overtime and outscored the Mountain Lions 24-8 in the final 6:09 of play (including the end of the second half and overtime).

The game featured 13 lead changes and three ties.

For the game, Fairmont State shot 50.7 percent from the field (37-of-73), including nearly 55 percent in the second half and overtime. However, Fairmont State made just 12-of-38 attempts from behind the arc.

Four players reached double-figures for the Falcons in the come-from-behind win, including 20 points apiece from
Vonte Montgomery and VonHandorf. Montgomery ended the game just one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards. Emrick also chipped in 19 points and eight rebounds, and
Jason Jolly tallied 14 before fouling out of the game in the second half.

Fairmont State scored 40 points in the paint and had 21 points off turnovers in the comeback.

Concord's Tommy Bolte finished the evening with 36 points and five boards. Rodgers finished the game with 19 points and David Mulumba tallied 10 on the final scoresheet.

The Mountain Lions finished the game with a 45-31 rebounding advantage.

Concord also recovered from a slow shooting start by connecting on 59 percent from the field in the second half.

Fairmont State will now prepare for a 7:30 p.m. tip against Urbana on Thursday evening at Joe Retton Arena.
