FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Urbana's Matt Treacy netted 33 points, and the Blue Knights shot over 55 percent from the field to pick up an upset victory over No. 22-ranked Fairmont State on Thursday evening at Joe Retton Arena.

The setback results in Fairmont's first Mountain East Conference loss of the season, as the Falcons slip to 11-4 overall and 8-1 in league play. Urbana improves to 5-8 overall and 3-6 in league play.

Treacy netted 13 of his 19 shots, including 6-of-9 from behind the arc in the Blue Knight victory. The freshman scored 22 of his career-high 33 points in the opening half, going 9-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 from three in the first 20 minutes of play.

Fairmont State shot just under 50 percent from the field at 48.1 percent and closed a nine-point deficit at the 2:45 mark of the second half to just a single possession margin on three different occasions during the final 55 seconds of play.

Kenzie Melko-Marshall had a big night for the Falcons by recording a career-high 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting in the setback. Melko also pulled down six rebounds.
Vonte Montgomery also chipped in 20 points and eight rebounds, and
Jason Jolly tallied 15 points, all of which came in the second half.

In addition to Treacy's career-high performance, the Blue Knights also got 16 points and eight rebounds from Malik Jacobs.

Despite the game having six ties and two lead changes, Urbana led for 35:28, compared to just 30 seconds for the Falcons.

Fairmont State will return to action on Saturday when NDC comes to town for a 4 p.m. tip at Joe Retton Arena.

Note: Urbana picked up its first win over Fairmont State in program history. The Falcons are now 12-1 against the Blue Knights all-time.
