FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State buried 17 three-pointers and shot nearly 56 percent from the field in a 97-86 Mountain East Conference victory over Notre Dame College on Saturday evening at Joe Retton Arena.

The Falcons opened up a double-digit lead at halftime after shooting 57.6 percent from the field with 11 three-pointers in the first 20 minutes of play.

With the victory, Fairmont State remains atop the league standings at 12-4 overall and 9-1 in MEC play. Notre Dame College falls to 11-5 overall and 7-3 in league play.

Each of Fairmont State's starters reached double-figures in the victory, led by
Jason Jolly with 27 points, four rebounds and five assists. Jolly went 9-of-17 from the field and 6-of-12 from three in the win.
Kenzie Melko-Marshall also had another big day for the Falcons with 24 points, five rebounds and four assists. Melko matched Jolly as the duo knocked down six 3-pointers each in the victory.

Vonte Montgomery also recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while
Cole VonHandorf and
R.J. Hutcherson chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively for the Falcons.

In addition to shooting well from the field, the Falcons were also 12-of-14 from the charity stripe.

Notre Dame also shot well from the field at 46.2 percent (30-of-65) with 13 three-pointers, however, the visitors couldn't't match Fairmont's pace.

Larenz Thurman scored a game-high 31 points on 10-of-16 from the field and 6-of-10 from three in the setback. Will Vorhees also chipped in 16 points and nine rebounds, and Bruce Hodges tallied 16 points and eight boards. Drew Scarberry also came off the bench and score 14 for NDC.

Despite the loss, Notre Dame turned the ball over just three times in the game. The visitors, however, forced 10 Fairmont State turnovers and scored 20 points on the offensive end as a result.

Fairmont State held a 36-31 advantage on the glass.

Fairmont State will now return to the road with a 7:30 p.m. MEC matchup at Glenville State on Wednesday evening at the Waco Center. The Falcons topped Glenville State 77-75 in the first matchup of the season in Fairmont back on Nov. 28.
