FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State outscored Notre Dame College 29-15 in the second quarter and never looked back in a lopsided 87-59 victory on Saturday afternoon at Joe Retton Arena.

The hot-shooting Falcons shot 53.6 percent from the field and 52.0 percent from behind the arc in the victory. Fairmont State also knocked down 14-of-17 free throw attempts (82.4%) and had 23 assists on 30 made baskets.

With the victory, their second in a row, the Falcons improved to 7-9 overall and 4-6 in Mountain East Conference play. NDC fell to .500 at 8-8 overall and 5-5 in league play.

Sierra Kotchman finished the afternoon with 27 points, four rebounds and five assists, shooting 7-of-12 from behind the arc.
Rachel Laskody also chipped in 20 points and nine rebounds, shooting 9-of-10 from the field.
Kamrin Weimer also tallied 14 points, while
Brooke Kurucz stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Weimer scored all of her 14 points in the opening half of the game, including a trio of 3-pointers.

In addition to the big shooting night, Fairmont State also limited Notre Dame to just 36.5 percent from the field and a dismal 14.3 percent from behind the arc (3-of-21). Fairmont forced 13 turnovers in the victory, creating 16 points on the opposite end.

Jessie Stout paced Notre Dame on the offensive end with 17 points to go with a game-high 14 rebounds. Stout shot 8-of-10 from the field. Seina Adachi also reached double figures for NDC with 15. Adachi, Notre Dame's leading scorer coming into the game, shot just 5-of-16 from the field and 0-7 from three.

The Falcons will now prepare for a tough road matchup at league-leading Glenville State on Wednesday evening from the Waco Center. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m.

Fairmont State won the first matchup of the year between the programs back on Nov. 28, a 98-77 home win at Joe Retton Arena.
