GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- Fairmont State's
Abigail Johnson scored from eight yards out into the bottom right corner of the goal to provide the game-winner in the Falcons' 1-0 victory over Glenville State on Wednesday evening at I.L. & Sue Morris Stadium in Glenville.

With the win, Fairmont State improves to 7-4-1 overall and 6-2-1 in league play. The Pioneers fell to 2-9 overall and 0-7 in Mountain East Conference play following the setback.

The goal was the second of the season for Johnson, who is now tied for fourth on the team in scoring with five points (2 goals, 1 assist) this season.

Statistically, Fairmont State dominated the offensive zone in the win, holding a 12-5 advantage in total shots, including a 6-2 advantage in shot on goal. The Falcons also held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks and forced Glenville State to commit 16 fouls in the game.

Eight different players attempted shots for the Falcons in the win, including three shot attempts from
Mackenzie Gillispie and two shot attempts from
Lacy Bryant and Johnson.

Taylor Kennedy recorded her sixth shotout performance of the season in the win, facing five total shots and recording a pair of saves.

Carley Midkiff and Miki Abe each recorded shots on goal in the setback for GSC. Pioneer goalkeeper Morgan Smailes had a busy night in the Glenville goal, facing 12 total shots and recording five saves.

Fairmont State will return to action on Sunday at West Liberty University. Game time is set for 1 p.m. The Falcons already own a 2-0 win over the Hilltoppers earlier this season at Duvall-Rosier Field (9/29/19).
