SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Fairmont State picked up its second-consecutive double overtime victory with a 1-0 triumph over Notre Dame College on Wednesday afternoon at Mueller Field in South Euclid.

With the victory, Fairmont State improves to 10-4-2 overall and 9-2-2 in Mountain East Conference play. The key win also gives the Falcons an eight-point lead in the MEC Northern Division standings with just three conference dates remaining in the league schedule.

Fairmont State can clinch the division title with a win over Charleston or Frostburg State next week. The Falcons will also clinch the division crown with a loss or draw by Notre Dame College in one of its three remaining games.

Wednesday's game was scoreless for the first 104 minutes of play before
Kellie Norris beat the NDC goalkeeper with a double-assist from
Olivia Liston and
Katie Doyle. The shot was set up by a free kick by Liston into the box. The free kick was headed by Doyle and gathered by Norris for the game-winning shot from just outside the box.

Norris' goal was the first of the season and fourth of her career.

Statistically, the game was evenly matched with both teams attempting eight shots apiece. Fairmont State placed five of its shot attempts on-target, compared to just three on-target shots from NDC.
Abigail Johnson and
Abigail Fowler each fired three shots apiece to lead the Fairmont offense on Wednesday.

Fairmont State goalkeeper
Taylor Kennedy pushed her single-season record for individual shutouts to nine after recording her fourth shutout in the last five games. The freshman recorded three saves in the victory.

Notre Dame held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks on the afternoon.

Fairmont State will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the University of Charleston. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
