CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- California (PA) shot nearly 59 percent in the second half and outscored Fairmont State 29-15 in the fourth quarter to come away with a 91-77 victory on Saturday evening at the Convocation Center.

With the victory, Cal improves to 4-0 on the season. Fairmont State falls to 1-3 on the year.

The game had 14 lead changes and was tied five times before the Vulcans took control in the fourth quarter.

California (PA) was able to control the game in the post during the victory, holding a 46-29 rebound advantage and scoring 32 points in the paint.

Sierra Kotchman recorded her third 20-point scoring performance of the season by finishing with 22 points, six rebounds and four assists on the Saturday evening. The junior went 8-of-19 from the field and 6-of-11 from behind the arc. The Falcons also got 15 points from
Kamrin Weimer, and 11 points apiece from
Rachel Laskody and
Brooke Kurucz.

The Falcons finished the evening by shooting 44 percent from the field, including a 12-of-30 performance from behind the arc.

Monica Burns paced Cal in the victory with 28 points and seven rebounds. Bianca Jasper also had a big day with 21 points and a game-high 11 assists to record a double-double.

Cal shot 45.7 percent from the field in the victory, but started slow by shooting just 12-of-36 (33.3%) in the field 20 minutes of play. Cal also capitalized at the free throw line, making 18-of-21 attempts in the win.

Fairmont State will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday evening at Joe Retton Arena when Alderson Broaddus comes to town for a non-conference matchup with the Falcons. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
