FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State shot nearly 64 percent from the field and rallied from a five-point halftime deficit to pick up a 77-66 non-conference victory over Alderson Broaddus at Dan Cava Court inside Joe Retton Arena on Wednesday evening.

Prior to regrouping at the half, Fairmont State made just nine first-half field goals and shot a dismal 24 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes of action.

With the victory, Fairmont State snapped its three-game skid and improved to 2-3 on the season. The Battlers fell to 1-3.

The Falcons had four players in double-figures on Wednesday night, getting a team-high 18 points, five rebounds and four assists from
Sierra Kotchman. Kotchman did most of her damage from behind the arc with four 3-pointers. Senior forward
Rachel Laskody also had a big night for the Falcons with 17 points and 13 rebounds, shooting 8-of-14 from the field. Fairmont also got 11 points and six rebounds from
Presley Tuttle and 10 points, four rebounds and five assists from
Kamrin Weimer.

Fairmont State had 18 assists on 30 made baskets, and also forced ABU into 22 turnovers. The Falcons scored 26 points off turnovers.

Alderson Broaddus shot just under 46 percent from the floor and held a 41-36 rebounding advantage in the setback. The Battlers also held a 42-30 scoring advantage in the paint.

Shay Harper scored a team-high 17 points to lead Alderson Broaddus on the evening. Hannah Henderson also chipped in a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards.

Fairmont State will open up conference play on Saturday afternoon at home when Davis & Elkins visits Dan Cava Court at Joe Retton Arena for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
