Falcons Cruise To 37-Point Victory Over Davis & Elkins

FAIRMONT, W.Va. - After a close first quarter, Fairmont State outscored Davis & Elkins 35-18 in the second quarter and rolled to a 97-60 victory over the Senators on Saturday afternoon at Dan Cava Court inside Joe Retton Arena.
 
The Falcons shot nearly 53 percent from the field and held an 11-to-3 advantage in 3-point field goals during the victory. Fairmont State also forced 18 turnovers and scored 34 points off turnovers.
 
With the win, Fairmont State improves to .500 on the year with a 3-3 record. Davis & Elkins falls to 0-5 on the year.
 
Kamrin Weimer led the Falcons in the win with 24 points, three rebounds and two assists. Weimer went 9-of-14 from the field and 5-of-8 from behind the arc. The Falcons also got 15 points from Sierra Kotchman, and 12 points apiece from Rachel Laskody and Presley Tuttle. All 11 players hit the scoresheet during the victory for the Falcons.
 
In addition to shooting over 50 percent from the field, the Falcons also capitalized on all 12 of their free throw attempts and passed out 20 assists on 37 made baskets. Laskody and Katy Darnell each passed out a team-high four assists, while Kotchman and Gracey Lamm chipped in three apiece.
 
Davis & Elkins had two double-figure scorers in the setback, including 13 points from Sydney Nestor and 12 points from Peyton Mohler. The Senators managed just 39.6 percent from the field, including a dismal 3-of-15 performance from behind the arc.
 
Fairmont State will return to action on Tuesday evening at West Virginia Wesleyan. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
