BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Twelve members of the Fairmont State football team earned Mountain East Conference postseason honors on Tuesday afternoon when the league office announced its postseason award winners and all-conference teams for the 2019 season.

The Falcons had six first team selections, four second team selections and a pair of honorable mention picks. Running back Tyree Randolph, wide receiver Javon Hayes, left guard Chandler Zavala, defensive end D.J. Adediwura, linebacker Trevon Shorts, and cornerback Michael Porter each earned first team accolades this afternoon.

Running back Khalik Hamlin, right tackle Garrett Kapstein-O'Brien, right guard Lonnell McGuire, and defensive tackle Glenwood Williams each earned second team honors, while quarterback Takwan Crews-Naylor and left tackle Zach Cox each garnered MEC honorable mention for the 2019 season.

Tyree Randolph, Running Back
Randolph became the second-consecutive running back to surpass 1,000 yards rushing in a season after carrying the ball 161 times for 1,003 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. Randolph averaged 6.2 yards per carry and had five 100-yard rushing performances on the season. Randolph ranked third in the MEC and 30th in the country in rushing yards, and fourth in the conference and 45th in the country in rushing TDs this season. The standout running back also added 23 kick returns for 591 yards and a score on special teams, and hauled in four passes for 122 yards and three scores in the passing game this season.

Randolph also ranked sixth in the nation in all-purpose yards (171.6) and ranked 25th in the nation in total touchdowns with 14 this season. In his two seasons at Fairmont State, Randolph has 1,564 career rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns.

Javon Hayes, Wide Receiver
Hayes hauled in a team-high 49 receptions for 916 yards and eight touchdowns this season to lead the Fairmont State passing attack. The junior averaged 18.7 yards per reception and 91.6 yards per game this season. The standout receiver became the first player in program history to go over 100 yards receiving in four-consecutive games, a feat he accomplished from week five to week eight of the 2019 campaign. Hayes ranked 19th in the country in receiving yards per game, and ranked 45th in NCAA Division II in receiving touchdowns this season.

D.J. Adediwura, Defensive Line
Adediwura helped lead the Fairmont State defensive line after ranking fourth on the team in tackles (38) and tied for second on the team in tackles for loss (14.0) this season. The junior also finished second on the team in sacks with four, and also forced and recovered a fumble for the Falcons this season. Adediwura jumped into the top 10 in school history for tackles for loss during Fairmont's week 10 victory over regionally-ranked Urbana.

Trevon Shorts, Linebacker
Shorts led the Fairmont State defense and ranked eighth in the MEC in total tackles with 79 (46 solo) during the 2019 season. He also ranked 33rd in the country in tackles for loss with 14.5. In addition to leading the team in tackles, Shorts also had 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, four pass break-ups and a forced fumble during the 2019 campaign. For his career Shorts ended up with 203 tackles, including 120 solo stops, three interceptions, four quarterback sacks and 32.5 tackles for losses.

Michael Porter, Cornerback
Porter, a three-year first team All-MEC selection at cornerback, finished the 2019 season with 20 tackles, eight pass break-ups and two interceptions after facing the opponents top receiving threat each week. For his career, Porter racked up 10 interceptions and 24 pass break-ups wearing the maroon and white.

Four Honored from Offensive Line
For the second consecutive season, the Fairmont State offensive line was well represented on the MEC all-conference teams, earning four selections for the second year in a row. Junior left guard Chandler Zavala was a first team All-MEC selections this season, while right tackle Garrett Kapstein-O'Brien and Lonnell McGuire were each second team All-MEC selections. Zach Cox was and honorable mention All-MEC selections at left tackle for the Falcons.

The Fairmont State offensive line helped pave the way for the 13th best offense in NCAA Division II as the Falcons averaged 483.6 yards of total offense per game this season. The Falcons also ranked 21st in the country in rushing (231.8), 22nd in the country in scoring (39.2) and 39th in the country in passing this season (251.8). The Fairmont State offensive front allowed just 19 sacks this season and paved the way for three backs that rushing for 100 yards in a game this season.

Zavala is a repeat first team All-MEC selections at left guard for the Falcons after earning first team all-conference and honorable mention All-America honors as a sophomore in 2018. Kapstein-O'Brien, a four-year starter on the Fairmont State offensive line, earned MEC honors for the third-consecutive season and also set a program record with 44-consecutive starts while at Fairmont State. McGuire and Cox also earned MEC postseason accolades for the second-consecutive season.

Khalik Hamlin, Running Back
Hamlin earned All-MEC honors at the running back position for the second year in a row after finished second on the team with 144 carries for 821 yards and six touchdowns on the season. Â Hamlin, who went over 1,000 yards last season, finished 67th in the country in rushing yards this season. For his career, Hamlin now has 2,070 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns entering his senior season in 2020.

Glenwood Williams, Defensive Tackle
Williams, a three-year starter on the defensive line for the Falcons, earned second team All-MEC honors after totaling 25 tackles and three sacks from his defensive tackle position as a senior. Williams also finished the year with 9.5 tackles for loss and blocked a kick this season. Williams wrapped up his career with 6.5 sacks during his career.

Takwan Crews-Naylor, Quarterback
Crews-Naylor earned All-MEC honors as a quarterback for the second-straight season after completing 143-of-231 pass attempts for 2,473 yards and 24 touchdowns as a senior. Crews-Naylor completed nearly 62 percent of his passes and averaged 247.3 yards through the air this season. He finished the regular season 24th in the country in passing yards and tied for 17th in touchdown passes. His 2,473 passing yards are the sixth-most in school history in a single season and his 24 TD passes are the third-most in a single season in Fairmont State history.

The senior quarterback ended his career 365-of-593 for 5,683 yards and 52 touchdowns. He was only intercepted 17 times. Crews-Naylor ranks fourth in Fairmont State history in career passing yards (5,683), career completions (365), career touchdown passes (52) and career total offense (5,886).

Notre Dame's Jaleel McLaughlin, Nick Beans, Bryce Sheppert and head coach Mike Jacobs, along with Glenville State's Dominic Cizuaskas, earned top individual honors from the Mountain East Conference as the league announced its annual award winners on Tuesday afternoon.
McLaughlin earned Offensive Player of the Year honors for a second-straight year. Cizauskas was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year. Beans was tabbed as the Offensive Freshman of the Year, and teammate Sheppert was the Defensive Freshman of the Year. Jacobs was selected as the Coach of the Year for a second-straight season.
In addition to the individual awards, the league also announced the All-MEC teams. Regular season champion Notre Dame led the way with nine first-team honorees, followed by Fairmont State with six and Charleston with five. Glenville State was recognized four times on the first team, as was West Virginia State. Urbana had three honorees, while West Liberty and West Virginia Wesleyan each had one.
The all-conference teams and individual award winners are selected by a vote of the league's coaches.
