FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State men's and women's swim teams swept a dual meet against Salem University on Friday evening at the Feaster Center Pool. The Falcon women topped Salem by a 144-99 advantage, while the Fairmont State men defeated Salem 138-104 during the meet.
 
In all, the Fairmont State swim teams combined for 18 first-place finishes at the meet, including 10 victories for the Fairmont State women, and eight victories for the men.
 
The Fairmont State women got two wins apiece from Zsofi Bevardi, Emily Gersper, Monique Dias and Courtney Deem during the meet. The Falcons ladies also swept the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relays as Dias, Gersper, Deem and Bevardi teamed up in the medley relay, and Gersper, Dias, Deem and Eulalia Castan teamed up in the freestyle relay.
 
On the men's side, Pedro Gaspar paced the Falcons with a trio of victories in the 200 free, 100 free and 500 free. The Falcons also got two wins apiece from Richard Castan and Majester Abdul-Jalil, and Josep Castan touched the wall first in the 50 butterfly with a time of 25.45.
 
The Falcons also finished runner-up in both the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.

The Falcon swim teams will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host Alderson Broaddus at the Feaster Center Pool. The meet is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
