ATHENS, W.Va. -- Concord outlasted Fairmont State, 81-74, in overtime on Tuesday evening at the Carter Center in Athens. The Falcons erased a 10-point fourth quarter deficit, but three players fouled out in overtime, and the Mountain Lions came away with the win.

With the victory, Concord improves to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in league play. The Falcons slipped to 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the league.

After Concord took a 10-point lead with 5:03 remaining in regulation following a pair of free throws by Madison May, Fairmont State would score 12 of the next 13 points to grab a 69-68 advantage with just 1:35 remaining in the fourth.
Sierra Kotchman and
Kamrin Weimer each made crucial threes during the stretch.

Concord's Keely Lundy went 1-of-2 from the free throw line with 60 seconds remaining in the fourth to tie the game, which turned out to be the final scoring in regulation. With 15.1 seconds remaining in the fourth, Fairmont State drew the offensive foul to get the final possession of the fourth quarter.
Sierra Kotchman attempted a three with just over two seconds remaining but May blocked the attempt to put the game in overtime.

In overtime, Concord shot 50 percent from the field and limited the Falcons to just one field goal as the Mountain Lions came away with the 81-74 win. Fairmont State had three players foul out of the game, including two during the extra period.

Fairmont State had four double-figure scorers in the setback, including a team-high 21 points from
Sierra Kotchman, and 20 points from
Brooke Kurucz.
Rachel Laskody also recorded a double-doubles with 16 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks. Weimer also chipped in 14 for the Falcons.

Fairmont State shot just 30 percent from the field in the loss, including a 10-of-31 performance from behind the arc (32.3%). The Falcons stayed within striking distance by holding a 20-6 advantage in points off turnovers and a 21-9 edge in second-chance points.

Concord shot 46 percent from the field and held a commanding 52-20 scoring advantage in the paint during the victory. The Mountain Lions also held a 50-33 rebounding advantage in the win.

Madison May paced the the Mountain Lions with 24 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Riley Fitzwater also had a big night in the post for the Mountain Lions with 23 points and 14 boards.

The game featured 10 lead changes and 14 total ties, although Concord held the lead for 31:21.

Fairmont State will return to action on Sunday afternoon at Dan Cava Court inside Joe Retton Arena when Glenville State comes to town for a 2 p.m. tip.
