ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Fairmont State baseball team opened the 2019 season with an 11-7 victory over Clark Atlanta University on Friday afternoon during the opening day of the Peachtree City Baseball Classic in Atlanta.

All-American ace
Michael Stout paced the Falcons on the hill by fanning eight batters and allowing just three earned runs as he improved to 1-0 on the season.
Mark McKee also provided a solid pitching performance to record a save for the Falcons.

Tyler Skidmore led the Falcons at the plate by going 2-for-5 with a two-run home run.
Jordan Sanders also had a big day by going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

The Falcons will return to action on Saturday with a doubleheader of games on day two of the Peachtree City Baseball Classic. Fairmont State will battle Virginia State in game one at 1 p.m., followed by a matchup with Lemoyne-Owen at 4 p.m.
