CARY, N.C. -- Fairmont State's
Tyler Hill hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Falcons to a 7-6 win over Dominican College on Wednesday afternoon to wrap up the team's spring break trip in Cary, N.C.

With the win, the Falcons avenged a 9-2 loss to Dominican on Tuesday afternoon, and improved to 9-5 heading into Mountain East Conference play. Dominican fell to 6-5 with the setback.

With Dominican leading 2-1 after two innings of play on Wednesday, the Falcons score two runs in the sixth and seventh innings to pull ahead by a 5-2 margin heading into the eighth inning.

Chris Green tied the game in the sixth on an RBI single to that scored Hill from second. During the next at-bat,
Jordan Sanders crossed home plate on a passed ball to put the Falcons in front by a 3-2 score after six innings.

In the seventh, Hill hit an RBI single to bring home
Kevin Ayala, and P.J. Lanham blasted a double that scored Skidmore from second – pushing Fairmont's lead to 5-2 with just two innings remaining.

However, the Chargers refused to go away easy and scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to pull ahead by a score of 6-5. In the bottom of the ninth, though,
Nick Mann stole home to set up Hill's game-winning RBI that scored
Alex Banko from second.

Hill finished the game going 4-of-5 with a run scored and two RBIs. Ayala also went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Skidmore finished 2-for-4 with one run scored and an RBI.

Hunter Haddix (1-0) picked up the win on the hill for the Falcons, as eight players took the mound for Fairmont State in the win.

Fairmont State will open Mountain East Conference play on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Glenville State. Saturday will also be Fairmont's first home game of the season at Bridgeport Recreation Complex.
