FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State recorded its highest meet score since the 2014 season on Saturday afternoon to clinch the inaugural Mountain East Conference Regular Season Championship with a tri-meet victory over Davis & Elkins and West Virginia Wesleyan.

The Falcons are now 6-1 on the season, including a perfect 4-0 mark against Mountain East Conference opponents.

Fairmont State finished the meet with three perfect scores and turned in a final meet score of 278.680. The meet score is the highest for the Falcons since the March 14, 2014 when Fairmont State scored 279.245 in a tri-meet against Adrian College and King University.

The Falcons turned in a 10.0 in the open pyramid for the fourth time this season, and also scored a 9.60 (out of 9.60) in the open toss, and a 8.50 (out of 8.50) in the quad tumbling pass to record a trio of perfect scores in the meet.

Fairmont State grabbed a five and a half point lead in the compulsory event, scoring a 9.95 in the compulsory pyramid, and a 9.90 in the compulsory toss to open the meet. The Falcons also scored 29.60 out of a possible 30 points in the acro event to add to their first half lead. Fairmont scored a 9.90 in the five-element acro, and a 9.95 in the six-element acro.

Fairmont State led both teams by a double-digit margin at halftime, turning in a trio of scores of 9.75, 9.80, and 10.0 in the pyramid event just before halftime.

Fairmont State's victory in the toss event was anchored by a perfect score of 9.60 in the open toss. In tumbling, Fairmont State recorded its third perfect score of the afternoon with an 8.50 in the quad pass, before the Falcons scored a 9.625 or higher in each of the individual tumbling passes.
Karah Naples scored a 9.625 in the aerial tumbling pass, while freshman
Catherine Reynolds turned in her second-straight 9.90 in the six-element tumbling pass.
Alexis Smith wrapped up the tumbling event with a 9.875 in the open pass.

Fairmont State wrapped up the meet with a 96.68 in team event, prior to honoring 11 seniors during the senior ceremony to wrap up the meet.

Fairmont State will return to action on Friday, April 12 in the semifinal round of the inaugural Mountain East Conference Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship. Seedings and pairings for the MEC Championship will be announced next week.
