FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State rolled to a Mountain East Conference sweep of Wheeling Jesuit, 5-0, 11-2, on Monday evening at Duvall-Rosier Field.

With the sweep, Fairmont State improved to 15-11 overall and 9-3 in MEC play. Wheeling Jesuit falls to 6-24 overall and 3-9 in league play.

Jenny Stubbs batted 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs during the twinbill. The junior also finished the game with a home run and two doubles.

Game 1
Â
In the first game of the day, senior ace
Hannah Absalom pitched her fifth shutout of the season as Fairmont State picked up the 5-0 win. Absalom finished the game by allowing just five hits and striking out nine batters. The senior is now 11-2 on the season and has 12 complete games and an ERA of 1.49.

With the game still scoreless in the bottom of the second inning, Stubbs hit her third home run of the season to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead that they would never give up.
Courtney Worcester pushed the Fairmont State lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single to left center that scored
Carly Clarke from second.

Fairmont State added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to create some breathing room late. Baughman began the stretch by hitting an RBI double to center field to score Stubbs from third. During the next at-bat, Worcester stole home and Baughman stole third to push the advantage to 4-0.
Jessie Weaver made the score 5-0 on an RBI single to right field that brought home Baughman.

Game 2

In game two, Fairmont State scored nine of its 11 runs in the bottom of the third inning as the Falcons coasted to an 11-2 win in five innings.

Katlynn Foltz started the scoring for the Falcons on an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the first inning to make the score 1-0.

The score remained the same until the bottom of the third inning when Fairmont State took control for good. Nearly everyone in the Fairmont lineup chipped in during the third inning, as
Kadi Cosgrove, Stubbs, Worcester,
Heidi Hormell, Kaylee Anderson, Weaver, and
Hali Newlon all drove in runs for the Falcons during the frame. In fact, Cosgrove drove in RBIs on two separate hits during the inning.

Wheeling Jesuit scored a single run in the fourth and fifth innings of the game, and Fairmont State added one more run on an error in the fourth inning to make the final score 11-2.

Weaver, Cosgrove, Foltz and Worcester each recorded two hits in the game two victory.
Â
In addition to her performance at the plate, Cosgrove pitched four innings to earn the victory in the circle, allowing just one run on six hits to improve to 2-2 on the year.
