Falcons Top Roberts Wesleyan and Virginia Union on Day 2 at Millersville Tournament

DiPaola, Feeney Named to Marauder Clash All-Tournament Team

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- The Fairmont State volleyball team rolled to three-set victories over Roberts Wesleyan (25-9, 25-21, 28-26) and Virginia Union (25-14, 25-14, 25-10) on Saturday afternoon during the second day of the Marauder Clash in Millersville, Pa.
 
With the victories, the Falcons improved to 4-4 on the season, which includes a 2-2 record at this weekend's Millersville event.
 
In the first match of the day against Roberts Wesleyan, Julia DiPaola led the Falcons with 12 kills and a team-high eight digs. The Falcons also got 11 kills and two block assists from Amelia Moore, nine kills and four total blocks from Rebecca Feeney, and three kills and three blocks from Taylor Wisniewski. Keara Lewis also notched five kills and a team-high three service aces for the Falcons.
 
The Falcons finished the match with 46 kills and seven blocks.
 
Lily Keber (23) and Kelsey Moeller (15) paced the Fairmont State attack with double-digit assists in the match.
 
In the second match of the day against Virginia Union, Fairmont State got a team-high nine kills from Lewis, while Feeney and Moore both drove home seven kills apiece for the Falcons in the victory. DiPaola also chipped in 10 digs to go with five kills. Moeller led the Falcons in assists against Virginia Union with 18 to go along with eight digs. Keber also chipped in 11 assists and five digs for the Falcons.
 
Feeney and DiPaola each recorded three aces in the win.

Following their performances at this weekend's Marauder Clash, middle hitter Rebecca Feeney and outside hitter Julia DiPaola were each named to the All-Tournament Team.
 
Fairmont State will return to action next Friday at the Atlantic Region Crossover event at Wheeling University. The Falcons will battle Mercyhurst at 1 p.m. Friday, followed by a 5 p.m. match against Clarion that evening.
