URBANA, Ohio -- Fairmont State scored two goals late in the second half to pick up a 2-0 Mountain East Conference victory over Urbana University on Wednesday afternoon at Urbana University Stadium.

With the victory, Fairmont State improves to 3-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in MEC play. Urbana falls to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the league.

Abigail Johnson broke the scoreless tie early in the 83
rd minute, netting her first goal of the season. Johnson's goal was aided by a long throw in that was initially controlled by
Ari Christiansen. Christiansen provided a short pass to Johnson who controlled the ball and scored from 10 yards away. Johnson was able to turn her defender and finished near the post in the top left corner of the goal.

Lacy Bryant gave the Falcons some breathing room for the final two minutes after netting her first goal of the season with an assist from Christiansen. On Bryant's goal, Christiansen held possession in the right corner for nearly 30 seconds before beating her defender inside. After beating her defender, Christiansen crossed the ball to Bryant who scored from 12 yards out into the far side of the goal.

Christiansen added to her team-high 14 points after recording her fourth assist of the season in the victory.

Statistically the match was evenly contested with Fairmont State holding a 14-10 advantage in total shots, including an 8-4 advantage in on-target shots. The Falcons also held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Fairmont State freshman goalkeeper
Taylor Kennedy earned her third shutout of the season following her performance in the Fairmont State goal. Kennedy recorded four saves in the victory to earn her third clean sheet of the season.

Fairmont State will return to action on Sunday afternoon with a home matchup against West Liberty University. Opening kick is set for 4 p.m.
