FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Frostburg State outscored Fairmont State 32-6 in the fourth quarter and overtime to rally to a double overtime victory at Duvall-Rosier Field on Thursday evening in Mountain East Conference action.

Frostburg, a first-year Division II program, improves to 3-1 both overall and in the Mountain East Conference. The Falcons fell to 1-3 both overall and in the league.

Fairmont State got on the board first when
Takwan Crews-Naylor found Matt McDonald in the corner of the endzone for the 13-yard touchdown pass. The Frostburg defense put the Bobcats on the board midway through the first quarter when Zach Strand sacked Crews-Naylor in the endzone to make the score 7-2 after one quarter of play.

Frostburg quarterback Will Brunson gave the Bobcats their first lead of the game in the second quarter after hooking up with Terrell Brown for the nine-yard TD pass.

The lead didn't last long, though, as Crews-Naylor dumped the ball off to
Tyree Randolph and the sophomore raced 66 yards into the endzone to put the Falcons back in front by a 14-9 advantage. Fairmont State added one more score on a one-yard touchdown plunge by
Khalik Hamlin with 43 seconds remaining in the first half, allowing the Falcons to take a 21-9 lead into the break.

Crews-Naylor threw his third passing touchdown of the game late in the third quarter on a two-yard TD pass to
Javon Hayes to make the score 28-9 heading into the fourth.

In the fourth quarter the Bobcats scored twice in under a minute and a half of action to pull within five (28-23) with 8:33 remaining in regulation. The first score was a 26-yard TD strike from Brunson to George Richardson at the 9:54 mark. Follow that score, the Bobcats attempted an onside kick into an open area behind the Fairmont State return team that Frostburg was able to recover at the 27-yard line.

Three plays later Brunson connected with Chandler Breeden on an eight-yard touchdown pass to make it a one score game.

Colin Harvath pushed Fairmont's lead to eight (31-23) following a 35-yard field goal with a 3:03 remaining in the fourth. However, Frostburg drove down the field in just five plays and pulled to within two points following a four-yard touchdown run by Gavin Lavat. The Bobcats completed the comeback when Brunson found Christian Thorton to convert on the two-point conversion and send the game into overtime with a 31-31 tie.

In the first overtime both teams converted on field goals to force a second overtime period.

In the second overtime, Brunson capped a five-play, 25-yard drive with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Lincoln Ikwubuo. The touchdown later proved to be the difference in the game when the Frostburg defense came up with the stop on Fairmont's possession during the second overtime period, making the final score 41-34.

Crews-Naylor led the offense by completing 14-of-22 pass attempts for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Hayes was on the receiving end of five catches for 78 yards and a score.

Hamlin finished the evening with 18 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown. Randolph also chipped in 89 yards on 15 carries, and was on the receiving end of a 66-yard TD pass.
Brunson finished the evening by completing 17-of-35 pass attempts for 259 yards and four scores. Ikwubuo was on the receiving end of seven catches for 118 yards and a score. Lavat was limited to just 43 yards on 24 carries on the ground, but did cross the goal one once in the Bobcat win.

Trevon Shorts paced the Fairmont State defense with 11 total tackles and an interception.
Alec Solano also recorded seven solo stops. Michael Bell led the Frostburg defense with nine tackles, one interception and one pass break-up.

Fairmont State outgained Frostburg 390-327 in the setback.

The Falcons will return to action next Thursday at Glenville State in the annual "Battle for the Bit" Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
